Sunsoko Water Pumping System use state-of-the art photovoltaic (“PV”) technology to provide reliable solutions for a variety of water delivery applications such as potable water, irrigation and livestock watering. Solar technology is a perfect match for water pumping applications. Sunsoko systems have many advantages over traditional generator-powered systems. For instance PV systems do not require fuel or constant maintenance and can be designed for portability to be moved as water demand or the change of seasons requires. In addition, the systems are modular and can be quickly expanded as dem and increases.

A typical Systems from Sunsoko consists of a pump, controller, and PV array. An optional tracker is available which follows the sun during its arc through the sky and can boost water pumping efficiency by 25 to 40%. A battery system is also available in the cases where a gravity-fed system is not possible. The type of system you choose depends on the application, water source and the configuration specification. Sunsoko offers the technical expertise to specify the most efficient ,cost-effective solution.

Solar powered water pumping systems are currently being used to irrigate crops, water thirsty livestock and provide potable water, and should be considered for replacing generators and power line extensions. Unlike generator powered systems, solar water pumping systems do not require trips for refueling or constant maintenance. Since solar water pumping systems produce the most water when it is sunny and hot, they are a natural power solution. The pump you use will depend on your application and the water source. A surface pump is a more economical solution if you are pumping from a water source close to the surface. These pumps can push water a great distance or pressurize it for domestic water use. Submersible pumps can deliver water from as far as 1200 feet. A common application is to use a submersible pump operating only during daylight hours which pumps water into a storage tank. A separate system with a booster pump operating from a battery bank can pressurize the water and deliver the water day or night. There are several important factors you need to specify to choose the optimum solar pumping system design. The worksheet below will help you compile the information you need. General Solar Pumping Information
Flow Rates Conversion Factors
GPD - Gallons per Day (To estimate GPD,
multiply GPH by peak sun hours for location)
GPH - Gallons per Hour (To estimate GPH,
multiply GPM by 60 min./hour
nGPM - Gallons per Minute)
Feet of Lift to PSIG - Divide Feet by 2.31
US Gallons to Liters - Multiply Gallons by 3.785
Feet to Meters - Divide Feet by 3.28
Pump Performance Vs. Solar Array Output Consumption Estimates
As voltage varies, flow rate will vary proportionallyAverage stays nearly constant
Watts = Volts x Amps
People–10-100 GPD per person for all purposes
Large Livestock (horses, cattle) - 10 GPD per animal
Dairy Cattle - 35 GPD per animal
Small Livestock (sheep, hogs, etc.) - 2-4 GPD per animal
100 Chickens - 4 GPD
